Engagement with music through storytelling and innovation.
What We Do
01.
— Creative Collaboration
Our technology provides a new way to connect with an ensemble, developing our shared ability to communicate and achieve unity. By expressing together through music we can learn how to synchronise with each other.
A Refract Music workshop is conducted in a real world space. We can also run them online with web tools through video conferencing software.
02.
— Multisensory Storytelling
Storytelling is a means for us to channel ideas into a form. Engaging with aspects of a story through vocalising or in other musical ways allows us all to take turns and participate.
Multiple instruments allow for different methods of engagement enabling people to embody aspects of a story.
03.
— Lowering Barriers
Everyone can engage with our environments, whether people are seasoned musicians or completely new to the craft, the Refract toolkit makes it easy to interact with music and be part of the experience.
In our designs we try to ensure that features are both accessible and appropriate for a range of skill sets.
Collaborative systems
Hivetone
Our Hivetone system allows people to make music together, ensuring that no one is impeded by ability through only allowing notes that are in tune in a musical environment.
Collaboration
By networking an assortment of digital instruments with each other we allow for people to jam in real time, providing a means for interactions to happen.
Online
We are also working on our system's online availability so that more people can discover the benefits of collaborative, musical environments.

Storytelling
Benefits of our Sessions
Through collaborative story creation our workshops take form through a group dynamic and utilise many forms of expression to bring ideas forward within a group. These are beneficial for creative thinking and co-ordination as they encourage everyone to be part of the experience. Groups may require different configurations of our set up of which we have multiple.
Workshops in Person or Online
In person we can deliver workshops using our hardware, providing an experience that is operational via physical gestures. Alternatively our online workshops allow for a Refract session to be conducted from various locations at once. These can be a great way to reconnect when we may be physically away from each other.
